Who we are

Koest ("we", "us") operates the baby feeding and sleep tracking service at koest.app. For privacy questions, contact us at contact@koest.app.

What we collect

Depending on how you use Koest, we may process:

• Account data: name, email address, and password (or your Google account email and name if you sign in with Google).
• App data you enter: baby profiles (name, birthday), feeding and sleep sessions, notes, and caretaker invite codes.
• Technical data needed to run the service: session cookies, your active baby preference, locale, timezone, and theme preference.

How we use data

We use this information to:

• Create and secure your account
• Provide feeding and sleep tracking across your devices
• Let caretakers you invite share a baby profile
• Send authentication emails (verification and password reset)
• Remember your preferences

Cookies and local storage

We use:

• A session cookie from Better Auth to keep you signed in
• An httpOnly cookie for the active baby profile
• Locale and timezone cookies for formatting
• Theme preference in local storage (via next-themes)

Processors (EU)

We use service providers to host and operate Koest. For the service we operate, we use EU datacenters and EU compute locations at all times — we do not host the app, store the database, or process transactional auth email outside the EU:

• Vercel — application hosting and compute (EU)
• Neon — database (EU)
• Resend — authentication email delivery (EU)

If you choose Google sign-in, Google acts as an identity provider and may process your Google account email and name to authenticate you. Google's OAuth infrastructure is separate from our EU hosting setup and is governed by Google's policies.

Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. Caretakers you invite to a baby profile can see and edit that profile's tracking data. We may disclose information if required by law.

Children

Koest is for adult caretakers. Baby profiles and session data are entered by adults about infants or children in their care. The service is not directed at children creating their own accounts.

Retention and deletion

We keep your data while your account is active. You can permanently delete your account from Profile. Deletion removes your account and, when you are the only member of a baby profile, that profile's data. Shared baby profiles remain available to other caretakers.

Your choices

You can update account details in Profile, delete your account, or email contact@koest.app with questions or requests about your data.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of Koest after an update means you accept the revised policy.
